Making the First Step

You decide that you want to find a job, but you do not know where to start from. You also do not know what the motive behind your choice should be, so you think about your first steps.

How do you start your job seeking venture?

Immediately send an application to the first vacant position you find.

Find a job you have experience at, but you are not sure whether you really like it.

Start a process of thinking about what your real interests are, so that you can eventually find a job that you really enjoy.

Finding your Interests

You think that finding a job that is associated with your personal interests and passions is not a bad idea. However, there are many things that you like doing and you do not know which one you prefer following for your professional ventures.

How do you select the most interesting idea?

Ask friends to give you their thoughts and advice and let them choose for you.

Think about what you like doing and choose the first thing that comes to your mind.

Make a list of all the things you like doing, as well as the reasons why they would be an ideal choice as a job.

First Signs of Demotivation

You are not sure about what decision you should make, and you realise that this has started turning into a long and time-consuming process. You are thinking that no result will come out of this effort and that it would be better to find another method.

How do you react to the first signs of tiredness and demotivation?

Quit every effort.

Take a break for as long as you feel like.

Set a feasible working plan and deadlines.

Matching your Interests with a Professional Career

You have made up your mind and you have decided about the professional path you want to follow. But you are not sure whether you can actually turn this passion into an effective career, as you do not know a lot of things about this field.

What is the method you are following to connect your interest with an actual professional path?

Spend hours doing research online by yourself.

Ask friends or family members.

Be in contact and communicate with people that share the exact same interest with you.

Looking for Job Opportunities

You have been able to find a way to turn your interest into your profession, so you are ready to put yourself in the process of searching for a job position. You do not know where to start from, though, and you have no experience with searching for a job.

What is your main strategy for looking for a job position?

Start looking for vacancies randomly online and on social media.

Start looking for vacancies online and on social media using specific keywords relative to the job you are looking for.

Ask for personalised guidance from an expert and use your networks.

Choosing the Best Job Offer

After your search, you have shortlisted five job offers, and now you need to decide which one is the best for you.

What are your main criteria for selecting a job offer?

Economic factors, such as wage, opportunities for promotion, bonuses.

Responsibilities, duties, the specific characteristics of the position.

The specific characteristics of the position, as well as the inclusive and accessible character of the working space.

You’re doing well but can improve some of your approaches to networking and job searching. Keep practicing and don’t be afraid to reach out to others for support!
