Making a plan

You are working on a busy project with many smaller tasks that need to be completed. Each task has different deadlines that you must meet. Therefore in order to meet these deadlines and ensure all your work is complete your manager asks you to develop a plan. What do you do next?

How will you plan your work flow ?

Do nothing and try to manage tasks as they come.

Write a list of the tasks that need to be completed along with their deadlines and hang it at your workstation.

Write a lists of tasks, their deadlines and the work involved in completing the tasks. After that set yourself your own deadlines and assign specific times during your work day to do a small piece of each task.

Preparing for a meeting

You have a regularly scheduled weekly team meeting at your workplace. The purpose of this meeting is to review the teams progress towards reaching certain goals and completing tasks.

How will you prepare for the meeting.

Do nothing and attempt provide feedback on your progress from memory.

Read the meeting agenda and attempt to write some brief notes on your progress towards competing any assigned tasks or activities.

Managing multiple tasks and deadlines

You are responsible for completing multiple tasks each with conflicting deadlines. You are starting to get a bit overwhelmed as a lot of the deadlines are either on the same date or are very close to each other.

What’s the best way to manage all of these tasks?

Try to do as much work on each task as possible to reach the deadline.

Develop a plan that will allow you to breakdown your tasks into smaller steps. Use this plan to gradually complete your work.

Time Management

You have a busy work week coming up with lots of tasks to complete and lots of meetings to attend. It is important that you are able to manage your time effectively in order to be as productive as possible at work.

Relly on your teams shared calendar in order to identify important events you need to attend.

Use both your team and personal calanders and set specific times to focus your work time around the completion of specific tasks.

When at work or in education, delivering high quality outputs is an important task.

How do you manage the quality of your work ?

Ask your team lead or manager to oversee the quality of your work.

Carefully review the work you produced and assess how you could have done things differently.

Carefully review your work and ask your colleagues to help for specifically big or complicated tasks.

Managing Stress in the workplace

You noticed you are becoming overwhelmed and stressed at work.

What’s the best way to manage this stress ?

Take a break by going outside for a walk. They step outside the office for 10 minutes to get some fresh air.
